Your child's first visit
We like to meet children by their first birthday, or whenever the first tooth appears. The first visit is not really about the teeth. It is about the room, the chair and the person in the mask being ordinary.
What happens
Your child sits on your lap, we count their teeth, they get a go on the chair if they want one, and we talk about brushing and what they drink. Five minutes. If it goes well they leave with a sticker and no memory of anything worrying.
What you can do beforehand
Talk about the dentist as a normal errand, not a treat or a threat. Avoid words like hurt, needle and drill, even to reassure. Let them watch you have your own check-up if the timing works.
When to worry
Brown or white patches on the front teeth, pain, or a child who refuses to brush are all reasons to come sooner. Children under six are seen free at Bright & Co when a parent is registered.
